Jr's 3rd Birthday

Little Aaron Jr. turned 3. Jose and I went to visit him just in time to eat breakfast with them. We didn't do so well making it over to see Janeece on her 4th b-day this year so we did two in one. Jr. got a remote control truck that his dad and uncle were more interested in playing with it than he was. Janeece got a VTech digital camera.

Our Time Spent in Mira Loma

On our way to and from Mexico we stopped in Mira Loma to spend time with our friends and family there. It was a little chaotic this time with so many people, my sister-in-law recovering from surgery and so many new baby animals on the rancho. None the less it was a great time. 

Susie has two bulldogs who were both pregnant. Talk about delicate dogs, they had to be inseminated and have c-sections. Here's one of the five pups.

I love how social food is. Everyone helps in some way and we eat some damn good food with great conversation.

 I'm always down to try mysterious things. No one would tell me what was in this until I ate it. Apparently it was crab brains and other nasty body parts. It was spicy and delicious.

This fried fish was so good, I would've eaten more than one, but I had to leave enough for everyone else.

One thing I really like about California is how heavily saturated it is with Mexican culture. There are so many local specialty shops and the paletero drives buy selling popsicles and snacks. 

Kids are so funny. Leah got sick of the littles ones, kicked them out of her playhouse and made this note for the door. Janeece, in the most serious voice, asked me if Leah was going to get a spanking because she really needs one. It made me LOL. 

We celebrated Jaime's 60th birthday. 

Mule Days

When I was younger, still living at home, we'd always do a Memorial Day weekend trip to Mule Days in Bishop, CA. It's been years since I've been so this year when my dad called to invite me to Jake Clark Mule Days in Ralston, WY I accepted the offer.  My dad's dad recently passed away and the trip was over Father's Day weekend so I was more than happy to go spend some time with my dad, mom and their new pup. 

We went in my dad's nice mega cab Dodge dually. It was so roomy and comfortable and I am so in love with landscapes and beautiful scenery that I enjoyed the 8 hour drive. 

My parents just got a new puppy and she came along. I seriously questioned, "who are these people?", that are letting a dog ride in their vehicle and be cuddled and spoiled. I've never seen my parents so affectionate with a dog. They treat it like a baby. It's really cute and I'm happy for them. Even if they gave less attention to their real baby. 

The event was small compared to the one in Bishop. It mostly consisted of a rodeo and mules on display to be auctioned off on the last day. The highest selling mule went for $29,500. Although mules are beautiful animals I had no idea they were worth that much. 

The rodeo was cool. My two favorite events were the mounted shooting and the wild cow milking. The weather was nuts, it poured on us then got really hot. 

One night we attended the chuck wagon dinner. It was a nice rib-eye steak with all the fixin's . 

On the way home we drove a different route and came through Yellowstone. It was gorgeous, but at times dangerous with all of the wildlife on the road. The Dodge Ram came up really close to some real ram.

Roscoe & Rosie

My husband found a girlfriend for his Roosky. She's a five month old basset hound with a lot of energy. They don't live with us because we don't have a fenced in yard. I don't think it would be much work to get a front gate, by my husband is convinced that Roscoe loves all of the room he has at my in-law's house. Maybe someday we'll bring them home, but until then we'll just feed and visit them.

The Angulo's are such animals lovers. My sister-in-law has five dogs. We spent a little time playing with them outside. The weather was perfect.
