My brother started working at TAB this week. He looks so handsome in his business casual attire. I hope this new position opens great opportunities for him. We were on break talking about all the great people we work with and I was going on about how I often blur the lines of hierarchy. I haven’t forgotten that I came from working the graveyard shift in customer service and never see them as below me. I also don’t lack the confidence to introduce myself to those who are above me.

I can think of three reasons why I am friendly and say hi to everyone. The first being I’ve had more than one person throughout my life tell me I come off as bitchy and that’s not the impression I want to make. If I’ve come off that way it’s probably because I was masking insecurities that came with being in a new place, with new people. Second, I credit my master’s program for giving me the confidence to be who am I and not be afraid to have a voice. My final influence comes from my previous co-worker, Jake. The man can talk. He taught me how important it is to connect with people and form relationships. Recently I’ve found this new joy in getting to know people. Everyone has unique characteristics and stories that I don’t want to miss out on.

I’m no fun and only think about education so baby J got a book and I made these magnetic letters. They wouldn’t have been possible without help from Tiffany, who cut the letters out on her Silhouette; my mom, who helped me brainstorm whether I should sew, serge or hand stitch; and Jose who cut and kept me entertained by making up words for each letter.

Grandparents Day

I'm lucky to have such a close relationship with my grandparents. I enjoy our daily visits, phone calls and FaceTime sessions. They're too good to me.

Throwback Thursday: Baby Announcement X 2

Last Thursday I found out my cousin Rachel was pregnant so I had already planned to write this post with a throwback picture of her. Not even a week later her sister announced she’s pregnant. Seriously that is like a dream come true to be pregnant sisters. Okay…I probably don’t know what I’m talking about because I don’t have a sister, and I'd probably want all of the attention, but they’re not like that. I think it’s so fun that these two little cousins will be the same age and hopefully grow up to be best friends like we were and like this quote found a on Pinterest suggests,

I’m so happy and excited for them to have children. I’m the only one left out, but I can’t get distracted. Sometimes it seems like Spring 2014 will never come, but I know it’s coming at an accelerated pace and I have a lot of work to do.

Like I’ve previously said I like sending things through the mail. I found these cute cards for the parents-to-be and grandparents-to-be. My friend Crystalee recently wrote a post about cursive becoming obsolete so in addition to sending something by mail, I wrote in cursive. I use cursive when jotting down notes, but it’s something only I can decipher. It was a fun challenge to write legible and oh so pretty.

Sunday Family Dinner: Diana's Birthday

I love Sunday family dinners. It's been a few weeks since we've done it because my dad and cousin have been out of town working. They were in town this week, friend's from Idaho came to visit, and it was my aunt's birthday so we had a big dinner. I love when we all get together to EAT and BULLSHIT. It's one of my most favorite things to do.
