Double Baby Shower

Today was Rachel & Stephanie's baby shower. Back in September I wrote about these two sisters announcing babies on the way. I can't wait to meet Marcelo James and Kaleb Daniel in May.

Todos Me Miran

My Ph.D performance major friend’s remake of Gloria Trevi’s, Todos Me Miran, makes me want to get sexy and have a fun night out with the girls, no guys.

Happy Good Friday!

Beyond Glaze Gourmet Doughnuts

My top favorite sweets are cake, pie and doughnuts. For months I passed this store front that's down the street from my house wondering if it was ever going to open. Well it finally did!

My favorite is a simple glazed with chocolate frosting so I was surprised by all of the options. My plan was just to get one, but Jose thought we needed half a dozen.

We had blueberry, peach cobbler, maple bacon, chocolate gnocchi  cherry limeade, and apple crisp.

I loved the sourness of the limeade and the comfort of the chocolate. Jose really wanted to try red velvet, but they were sold out. Gourmet donuts are a little pricey which is probably a good thing to keep me from stopping by every day. If you're looking for a doughnut date, I'm your girl.

Waiting In The ER

Nothing too serious just brought my brother-in-law because he has a gnarly infection on his tonsils. I know better than to ever go to the emergency room unless it's a real emergency, but we've been to two other places and finally got referred to the ER.

They're going to poke his tonsils with a needle to release the puss and infection, if that doesn't work he may have to have them removed.  I hear that's a pretty painful recovery for adults. I had mine out when I was five. I remember the recovery consisting of watching Thumbelina and my grandma making arroz con leche for me.

Twenty years later I'm still holding on to my tonsils. They were always fun to take for show and tell.

Poster Contest

I've always felt like the whole numbers and banking this isn't for me, but this past month I was able to let my creativity and abilities shine through. This year our focus is on compliance so each month we have some dumb activity. I don't like competition, especially at work, it's all such a waste of time.

This month's campaign was to make a poster depicting what your department does. We brainstormed several ideas and came up with making it a comic that said what we do and who was in our department. I honestly had so much fun making it and may have stayed up past midnight messing around with the photos.

I thought we had a great poster until I started seeing everyone else's poster and they were just as good, if not better. There were no real rules to the poster so some group did some bizarre poster that involved bringing in a shopping cart.

Out of sixteen poster our department took first place. I was really proud of us.

March Mantra

(Made with S Note)
I realize we're already halfway through March, but I wanted to throw this out there. I've taken on a lot this semester and in order to balance it all I'm going to have to be selfish and do what works for me. I won't go into anymore detail because this will end up being a bitching post and you don't need that.

Updated YouTube Channel

I recently went to Peter Shankman Takes Utah hosted by the Social Media Club of Salt Lake City and aside from the humor, I took away two things from Peter that I want to place more emphasis on in my life.

The first was to reach out to people when you don't need anything. I feel like I already do this by visiting people when I'm in their area and texting or calling them when I'm thinking abou them, but I can always do better.

The second thing he talked about was using video. It's so easy to record footage on our phones and share it. Every once in awhile I'll record, but only recently have I started understanding what a great way it is to preserve memories far beyond what a photograph can do. People are looking for an experience and video is a way to give them that experience. He also mentioned how important it is to put your name on your work just in case you go viral.

This past week I had been thinking about my sister-in-law and reached out to her just to say hi. She told me how fast life goes when you have children and how amazed she is with all the new things her kids are learning. I mentioned that she should record some videos and share them. A few days later she emailed me the cutest video of her 2 year old daughter cleaning her room and making her bed.

I started thinking about the videos I've recorded but never shared, so I started uploading them to YouTube, 107 videos later I finally finished with what I recorded between 2006-2012. I'm pretty sure Jose thought I was nuts laughing uncontrollably at things that probably aren't funny to anyone but me and maybe the people in them.

There's a huge range from teen years, church choirs, and family time. Now that they're backed up everyone can share in the memories and I don't have to worry about them accidentally getting erased and lost forever from my hard drive.

Check them out, maybe you're in one.

Finally Taking That Vacation

Most people get excited about vacation, but it stresses me out! I'm the person that wants to plan everything, find deals, and make the most of my time, then when it doesn't work out I get really bummed. Through the years of traveling with Jose he's really taught me that I must be flexible.

When we bought my ring it came with a free cruise. Right after that we got a phone call regarding a cruise and I thought it was the one that came with the ring. Turns out it wasn't and free DOESN'T really mean free. I'm such a sucker when it comes to wheeling and dealing. I'm working on learning how to say no. Anyway I never booked this cruise we've been stuck with for the past 3 years because the timing wasn't right, money was tight, and I'm scared it will be the the cruise from hell.

I was thinking we'd go during winter when Jose is off from work and it's frigid here, but the man wanted to go in July. I was pretty against July because scorching hot weather and I don't mix. Turns out May is going to have to work because that's when I could book the flights with our airline miles and I'll be on break from school.

I'm excited to explore new places so let the countdown begin!

Winter Things We Enjoy

The sun came out on Saturday to put us at 51 degrees here in Ogden. I woke up early with a lot of drive. I cleaned and ran some errands then met up with my husband for lunch at Lucky Slice.

After lunch and grocery shopping we threw our gear in the truck and headed up the mountain for some night boarding.

I feel like I've been busy lately and haven't given Jose much of my time so it was nice to spend time cuddling on the couch and doing things we enjoy.
