Waiting In The ER

Nothing too serious just brought my brother-in-law because he has a gnarly infection on his tonsils. I know better than to ever go to the emergency room unless it's a real emergency, but we've been to two other places and finally got referred to the ER.

They're going to poke his tonsils with a needle to release the puss and infection, if that doesn't work he may have to have them removed.  I hear that's a pretty painful recovery for adults. I had mine out when I was five. I remember the recovery consisting of watching Thumbelina and my grandma making arroz con leche for me.

Twenty years later I'm still holding on to my tonsils. They were always fun to take for show and tell.

Jazz vs Lakers

When Jose and I were dating we would go watch the Jazz play the Lakers at the Energy Solutions Arena. We haven't been in awhile and I think partly because when you're dating you put way more interest in things just to spend time together. Now that interest has worn off. The Lakers came into town last night, but instead of heading out to the ESA we decided to watch from home. We're saving up to go to the next game in LA at the Staples Center. They play on Jose's birthday. It'll be a change for me to be the minority among all of the gold and purple. I hope I don't get mauled by a dirty Laker fan.

Last night we had a little party for two in our jerseys with drinks and nachos. Jazz won!

Here are a few pictures from previous games.

Throwback Thursday: Baby Announcement X 2

Last Thursday I found out my cousin Rachel was pregnant so I had already planned to write this post with a throwback picture of her. Not even a week later her sister announced she’s pregnant. Seriously that is like a dream come true to be pregnant sisters. Okay…I probably don’t know what I’m talking about because I don’t have a sister, and I'd probably want all of the attention, but they’re not like that. I think it’s so fun that these two little cousins will be the same age and hopefully grow up to be best friends like we were and like this quote found a on Pinterest suggests,

Grandma’s House
The place cousins go to become best friends.

I’m so happy and excited for them to have children. I’m the only one left out, but I can’t get distracted. Sometimes it seems like Spring 2014 will never come, but I know it’s coming at an accelerated pace and I have a lot of work to do.

Like I’ve previously said I like sending things through the mail. I found these cute cards for the parents-to-be and grandparents-to-be. My friend Crystalee recently wrote a post about cursive becoming obsolete so in addition to sending something by mail, I wrote in cursive. I use cursive when jotting down notes, but it’s something only I can decipher. It was a fun challenge to write legible and oh so pretty.

For the grandparents-to-be

I didn't buy this one because it was only for a grandma-to-be, but I loved the words

Throwback Thursday: I love the dentist

Brace Face
I went to the dentist yesterday and I loved it, it feels so good to have extra clean teeth. The dentist scared me when he said he could see 3 cavities, I was already making up a goal to be cavity free on the next visit, but he was just kidding. He did spot a chipped tooth though. He informed me of a chipped tooth at my last visit too. I have no idea when I chipped them and wouldn't have even noticed if he hadn't told me.  I do my best to take care of my teeth because my parents often reminded me that they paid a lot of money for them. I spend too much time thinking and preparing for the future, so I know I don't want to be toothless or have painful procedures. Prevention over intervention for me!

Throwback Thursday: Anniversary

Jose pinning money on his best friend Chris

Last year we went to California for Chris and Natalie's wedding. It was a great time. They had a photo booth, a taco stand, dancing, and plenty of drinks. The last time we saw these two was on April Fool's Day 2012. They announced they were pregnant, but of course no one believed them because of all days to share the news. Turns out it's true. Hopefully our next trip out there will be to congratulate the new parents and meet the baby, but until then this card will have to do.

Throwback Thursday: Best Cousins

2003

I could go on and on about memories with my cousin Stephanie. Growing up we were best friends. I chose this picture because I had the chance to go visit her tonight. It's nice to see us both grown up and married. When we were little girls I don't think we could've of imagined how blessed and happy we'd be.

Throwback Thursday: Jackasses

July 12, 2006

I was looking through my external hard drive this morning trying to see what I could find from a previous July 12th. When I saw these I knew I had to share. I was going to write from memory but I was having trouble remembering which pet it was and the details of what happened. I knew I wrote this story down somewhere. I looked through my emails because before Google Docs I used to save journal entries as drafts in my email. I finally founded it on my MySpace blog.

I'm posting my original blog post because it's an interesting look back at 18 year old me. It's actually kind of embarrassing how immature I sound. I've also included a few comments that were left on my post because the dialogue between my brother and I is hilarious. Don't worry, we're good friends and I'm glad we can tell each other like it is.

Jackasses

7/12/2006

Current mood:sad
So today sucked.....I was home from work for only a few minutes when a neighbor pulled into our front yard. I was on my way outside when I saw him. He asked if we had a burro, I couldn't even understand what the heck he was saying I thought he was asking somthing about a burrow. So anyways I finally understood what he was saying, he had our mule in his dog run, because she got through the fence.

I hopped in the car and followed him to his house and sure enough it was Sammy. My dad is out of town for work so I called brother, who was at work, to see if I should just walk her around to the house. I didn't know what harness to get because all I could find was these retarded Mexican ones. I got the harness and didn't want to walk through the street, all the way around to the guy's house, so I just went through the back yard. I had to jump the stupid fence which took me a minute, but I finally got over.

I got Sammy all harnessed and started walking her home. The road I had to take her on is kind of busy, so there were several cars passing, I don't know if she got scared because she started going all crazy. I still had the rope in my hand but duh....the mule is obviously stronger than I am and she took off running, dragging me behind her across the gravel and the road. I didn't really have time to worry about that though, I was just tryin to get the stupid mule out of the road cuz there were trucks and cars.

Sammy ran all the way back to the guys house. After almost getting home she went all the way back to where we started. This guy pulled over and walked back to the guy's house with me. I felt so dumb because he saw me fall. We locked her back up in the dog run and I started walking home. The guy didn't even offer me a ride...which is an ok thing cuz u shouldn't ride with strangers and I needed to walk back and look for my phone. I found my phone and called my brother to let him know that the plan didn't work. I knew better than to tell my mom because it's her greatest fear that the animals will get out when my dad's gone, plus she's mad because he won't sale them to pay for my college. That would only make things worse if she knew the mule got out and I was hurt. I couldn't get a hold of my dad and I really didn't want him to worry about it while he's away. I'll just wait until he gets home. I thought brother was the only one I could trust until he started yelling at me and telling me that I'm dumb. Ok whatever....I tried.

When I got home my grandma was on the porch so I tried to sneak in the drive way so she wouldn't ask any questions.  I didn't want her to know cuz she would tell my mom 4 sure. I went up stairs to take a shower and check out my wounds. I have road rash all up my legs and arms and stomach. I wasn't going to cry for some cuts.

Brother came home from work as I was getting out of the shower. He started yelling at me asking where the mule was. He said "I don't care about you, just tell me where the stupid mule is." So I told him. Well that was it... I am so not the person to cry over anything but I did. Lame huh. Oh well he made me feel really bad.

Bro in respone to your text if I'm ok----what do you think jackass?

So far this has been my favorite flashback. This is one of those stories that is in no way funny at time, but 6 years later I can laugh, and I have been all day.

Throwback Thursday: Baby J Video

July 5, 2011

This is a video of my youngest niece Janeece when she was 10 months old. Her Nana, my mother-in-law, taught her how to get off the bed. This was a fun day hanging out with all of the girls, Stela, Nana, and my oldest niece Lani. I miss my cute niece, but I know her mama loves her so much and is doing what is best for all of them right now.

Throwback Thursday

Stela's Birthday Prank
This picture was taken June 28, 2007 9:57 PM. The year before while Stela and her family were in California we removed everything out of her room, except for her bed frame with a Bible placed in the middle. We figured it would be a big pain because you know when you're coming back from vacation you can't wait to sleep in you own bed.

We had to top that so we had Sister Norma call Stela and tell her off for encouraging Lorena, the girl in the black shirt to get an abortion. Stela had no idea what Norma was talking about which apparently made Stela cry because she was so rude to her. Later that night Lorena showed up at Stela's house asking if she could spend the night because her parents kicked her out. The rest of us were hiding on the porch listening. Lorena acted all paranoid and asked Stela what the noises were on the porch. Stela just dismissed it thinking it was the dogs. Lorena finally convinced her to look outside and there we were with a birthday cake. It was me, Jessica, Lorena, Alex and my brother who showed up later for cake. I'm pretty sure this was for her 16th birthday.

Here's a video of her reaction. It's kind of long and probably only funny to me. It contains a lot of giggling and bad words.

I got the idea for Throwback Thursday from a blog I follow. Just two in love...
I have tons of pictures and thought it would be a fun way to reminisce.

Just a side note I've always hated the word THROWBACK, but throwback thursday is a good alliteration so I'm keeping that title.
