Motorcycle Diaries

I finally registered the new motorcycle. I’m a little embarrassed to admit some of the stupid moves I made last Friday, but I’m human so here goes. I was at a stop light, at a really busy intersection in Clinton and when the light turned green I killed the engine and almost dropped my bike. Super embarrassing, but I’m glad I was able to hold it up and not cause a big traffic mess. Second, my co-workers wanted to see her so we went out and when I started it up I wasn’t on it and didn’t check if it was in neutral. It wasn’t! I could’ve taken off, but I was holding the brake so it only jerked enough to scare us all. I was pretty disappointed in myself by the end of the day and dreaded riding home in traffic. I took HWY 89 home and it all worked out.

Saturday evening we rode to the movies. The night ride home was my favorite. It’s nice riding without any pressure to be somewhere, just riding for fun. I like being able to follow my husband, he gives me confidence, because I want to be his badass wife on her own bike.

I want to get all of the practice I can so I rode to work this morning. I decided to be daring and take the freeway because even though I'm scared to go fast I feel safer on there than passing through a million intersection. When I was getting ready to go this morning I saw two criminal looking men walking down the street in my direction. I’m not usually scared of people, but I got a panicky feeling. I was just going to hurry , put my helmet on and take off before they could approach me. I also had time to quickly think about what if they came up to me in a threatening way, how would I beat them up? I turned my back to them and while I was putting my helmet on one of them grabbed me by the lonjas (love handles). It scared the shit out of me, but it turns out it was only my brother.

Here's a picture of the shoe collection under my desk. Boots because I rode my motorcycle, heels because I'm a professional, and Vans because I'm in and out of cars installing car seats and carrying other random heavy things.

Fragmented Friday

I have a lot of thoughts that I don’t want to make into individual posts so here are some fragments I want to share.

  • My sweetheart of a mother gave me a card and some cash to celebrate my new job. She said the money could only be used for shoes or an outfit for work, not bills. I bought a pair of cute tennis shoes since I’ll be on my feet Friday evening and Saturday working the Safe Kids Fair. I also got a cute new purse that’s simple, yet big enough to fit my iPad in.

  • I want to do a little nephew bragging because isn't this the cutest picture.

  • Comcast sends a lot of junk mail, and good thing they do, because it reminded us that we never got the $144 they owe us from back in February.  Those bastards. They said we should be seeing the money soon. This time I set a reminder in my calendar to follow up next week if I don’t get it.

  • My husband finally has health insurance for probably the first time. I’m so grateful for this job and the amazing benefits they offer.

I hope you have an excellent weekend!

Ms. Chauffeur

My husband finally returned from his 19 day getaway. I spent 5 of those days with him so the time didn't seem so long. It felt funny going to visit my own husband, kind of like dating where you don't get to see each other every day and you have to communicate by telephone, making the reunion sweet. Dating seems like it was long ago so it was a fun feeling.

To keep that fun feeling I decided to role play and pick him up from the airport dressed as a chauffeur. I've always wanted someone to pick me up holding a sign with my name on it so I thought why not trying being on the other end of my fantasy. Not sure I really captured the look of chauffeur, but it was fun nonetheless. He had the biggest(maybe embarrassed) smile on his face and we just laughed.

I also wanted the chance to wear these new boots I found at Kohl's for $16.

Have I mentioned in my next life I want to be a cowgirl, a tough, rugged one?

2 Cute! Happy Birthday Janeece

I’m no fun and only think about education so baby J got a book and I made these magnetic letters. They wouldn’t have been possible without help from Tiffany, who cut the letters out on her Silhouette; my mom, who helped me brainstorm whether I should sew, serge or hand stitch; and Jose who cut and kept me entertained by making up words for each letter.

Aren’t the glitter Toms adorable?

Happy 2nd Birthday Janeece! We love and miss you.

February Photo A Day

As you may know I don't go anywhere without a camera and when I'm really into taking pics I bust out all three, my DSLR, point-&-shoot and phone. I take pictures daily and thought it would be fun to have a focus each day. I hope to improve my creativity and photography skills.

1. Your View Today
I discovered this challenge a day late and this was the only picture I took on the 1st of February. After work I ran into Walmart to buy a few things to make tostadas de jaiba for dinner. We also needed bread so I grabbed a loaf. I was starving so I ate a slice in the parking lot.

2. Words
Words don't describe how ridiculously priced this shirt/dress is. $118.

3. Hands
I took a lot of pictures today while I was babysitting my niece and nephew, but I forgot to focus on hands. Here's all I could come up with.
Busy Hands
4.  A Stranger

5.  10AM
Still in bed at ten o' clock. This was the closest thing to me.

Jose's phone
6. Dinner
Tonight we celebrated my dad's 49th birthday.

7. Button(s)
I save all the extra buttons that come with my clothes. I never use them, mostly because I misplace them and because I've not had my buttons ripped open.

8. Sun
It was overcast in Ogden all day and then it started snowing. The snow was enough to clear up the sky and I was able to snap this picture after work.

9. Front Door
This is my front door, don't hesitate to knock and come visit me.

10. Self Portrait
Today was Sister Gamon's funeral.

11. Makes You Happy
The only pic I took today was of an old pic so I could send it to Tiffany. It's of my little cousins. One thing that makes me happy is little kids.

12. Inside Your Closet
This is one of our closets Jose built. We have another one downstairs for more shoes, coats, dresses, and season clothing. I'm super anal about color coordinating my clothes.

13. Blue
I work in the loan department at TAB Bank financing semi-trucks and trailers. I snapped this shot of a model truck I have at my desk.

14. Heart
Today is my 24th birthday and Valentine's day. My favorite cake is yellow with chocolate frosting.

15. Phone
I feel like I've been taking a lot of pics at work and here's another one.

16. Something New
New shoes!

17. Time
I didn't think I took any pictures today that represented time, but as I looked through I found this one. I was compiling pictures for another post and this is what I jotted down.

18. Drink
How perfect today was my friend Ana's 21st birthday and we definitely had drinks.

19. Something I Hate To Do
I HATE driving in SLC with all of the damn center medians. I hate having to U-Turn and backtrack because these shits are in the way.

20. Handwriting
I took this picture of a note I left for Jose. I put it right where he wouldn't miss it.

21. A Fav Photo of You

22. Where You Work

23. Your Shoes

24. Inside Your Bathroom Cabinet

25. Green

26. Night
Good night

27. Something You Ate
Have I mentioned my favorite snack is almonds.

28. Money
This is a crappy pic of a Comchek. I work with these at TAB and Jose gets paid by Comchek.

29. Something You Are Listening To
I've had this song on repeat all month.
Si No Te Hubieras Ido by Marco Antonio Solis

Is it Snowing Where You Are?

Looking out my work window at the thick flakes that were falling made me nervous to drive home. I stayed longer to let the 5 'o clock traffic clear up. Once I stepped outside I wasn't scared anymore. It hasn't been around much this year so I forgot the love I have for the white stuff. I'm enamored by seeing it, feeling it, and tromping through it so that's exactly what my my purple boots and I did.

My purple boots and Mooch
I want to leave with a song. There's no real reason but that I like what I hear. I'm listening to City and Colour, the more songs that play the more I want to share, but if you wanted to hear songs you'd seek them out.
